CD-ROM drive access light blinks every few seconds due to bus polling.
Cause:
This is not a problem and will not affect the performance of disk or CD-ROM drives. When 'Auto insert notification' is enabled or the computer contains a SCSI controller, Windows 95 will periodically poll the bus connected to the disk drive or CD-ROM drive to check for a diskette or CD-ROM. Periodic polling can occur with IDE, SCI, and proprietary CD-ROM drives, even if the computer is idle.
Solution:
In the 'Control Panel' window, double-click the 'System' icon and click the 'Device Manager' tab. Double-click the 'CDROM' icon and double-click the appropriate CD-ROM. Clear the 'Auto insert notification' check box and click 'OK'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
